Leave people better than how you found them. Leave communities better because you were there. That’s what is happening this week in Uganda.
Some of the EAG team are in Uganda for the opening of Marriott Kampala. Upon arrival, they didn’t go straight to the hotel and start training. The team went to a local school and helped paint and make things a little more comfortable for the kids.
Why? Because we care about people, not just profits.
People should always come first. Without them, you wouldn’t have a team, customers, or communities to serve. There is no ecosystem for a party of one to have no contact with anyone, sell nothing to no one, serve no one, and have a successful business or a meaningful life.
You must make people a priority.
People deserve respect and dignity. The team assisted the community in cleaning the grounds of the school in Uganda. The kids deserve the best space available. By providing that, it shows them respect and dignity. It can help build their sense of worth and confidence.
Showing people respect today will lay a foundation that allows success tomorrow.
Hard work is an ethic that should be taught and lived. Showing respect and dignity doesn’t mean we give people something for nothing. Some need a helping hand, and that should be offered.
Success in life comes through hard work, and that effort should be lived out in front of others. Others need to understand that success has a price, and if they want it, then they must be willing to pay it.
As a leader, you will employ people. When you employ someone, you’re helping them be successful.
Wayne Grudem teaches that the only long-term solution for world poverty is business and the employment opportunities it brings. Growing your business not only helps your customers, but it improves the lives of those you hire.
You make the world a better place by lifting people out of poverty. Expanding your business also means impacting lives.
Great leaders listen to others because the person deserves the time. They simply care about people, so they lend a listening ear.
Leaders thank others. They don’t make it about themselves.
Care is shown when a leader gives all the credit to them when there’s a win but takes all the blame when there’s a failure.
Leaders care.
Leaders invest in others. You care for others by helping them become the best version of themselves they can be.
Coach, correct, and encourage.
Challenge them with new projects. Walk them through a meaningful book. Tell them you believe in them. Offer them a coach who can push them to grow.
To care about people is to invest in them.
Your team knows if you care. You can’t hide in an office and avoid human interaction. Get out among your people.
When you’re on a video call, thank them. Don’t get distracted by your phone. Keep your eyes on them.
If you’re with them in person, shake their hand. Look them in the eye when communicating.
Do all the things so your team knows you care.
How do you expect your team to care about what they do when they don’t believe you care about them?
People come first. Treat them as such.
Always leave people better than how you found them.
Creating unparalleled experiences,
