Becoming an authority in your field requires disciplined learning, long-term commitment, and the determination to master every part of your craft.
If I were to ask you to name someone who is an authority in their field, who would come to mind? A quick survey might select Richard Branson as an authority in entrepreneurship due to all the businesses and ventures he’s launched and managed. In the hospitality arena, Horst Schulze must be on the list as the co-founder of Ritz-Carlton. Neil deGrasse Tyson is an astrophysicist who has made complicated science relatable to millions through his books, lectures, and podcasts.
Each of these individuals is recognized as a leader in their field. For some of you reading this blog, being listed among these names is a dream, but you have no idea how to get there. You want to be an authority in your field, but you don’t even know what the first step is.
